What is National Hospitality Day?

National Hospitality Day is a nationwide celebration of our brilliant and resilient sector, the people who work within it, and the suppliers that support them.

One amazing day, every September, operators across the nation pull together to throw the mother of all parties, to help the community truly celebrate their hospitality workers and their favourite local businesses.

We ask the nation to go out to help out the places they love and the people whose livelihoods are literally disappearing. Participating venues pulled out all the stops to collect money for the sector’s five main charities: Hospitality Action, The Licensed Trade Charity, The Drinks Trust, Springboard and Only a Pavement Away - meaning that guests can help hospitality people in crisis, whilst enjoying the places they love.

Their services look to help hospitality industry employees through their greatest pain points to make sure they are able to achieve the stable and happy lifestyle they deserve.

History

National Hospitality Day was borne during the unspeakable year of 2020.

A deeply troublesome time for the entire hospitality sector, the pains were felt across all levels of staff and business owners within the industry. Every operator knows the lengths their staff go to in order to provide their guests with the best experience possible, and we saw the need to find ways to help our hard working service workers and celebrate their efforts.

Despite the worst of the pandemic, we demonstrated just how hospitality makes our communities better.

Hospitality Action, The Licensed Trade Charity, The Drinks Trust, Springboard and Only a Pavement Away are five of the main charities in the sector, helping current and future employees. Their services range from providing financial support, career advice, mental health support, employment help to those facing homelessness, education, retraining and so much more.

Their services look to help hospitality industry employees through their greatest pain points to make sure they are able to achieve the stable and happy lifestyle they deserve.

Since establishing National Hospitality Day as an official day of celebration, we have managed to raise over £10,000 for these charities - but it doesn't stop there! With the ongoing success of the campaign and greater public awareness, we look to raise more money for the cause year on year.
